Discussing the inspiration behind Good Day, G-DRAGON shared that he has always loved the camaraderie of past television specials where artists would gather to perform together. One of his fondest memories was participating in the Infinite Challenge Song Festival, where he bonded with his seniors through music and laughter. However, such opportunities have become increasingly rare, which is why he decided to take the lead in bringing together high-profile figures from various fields, weaving their personal stories into lyrics to create a special song that commemorates the year.
The brand-new variety show Good Day is exclusively streaming on iQIYI International, spearheaded by K-POP legend G-DRAGON. Using music as a bridge, the show brings together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Kim Soo-hyun, Hwang Jung-min, Jung Hae-in, Kim Go-eun, as well as members of BSS (SEVENTEEN) and aespa. With such a star-studded lineup, the guest list rivals that of a major year-end awards ceremony.
The show kicks off with comedian Jung Hyung-don, with whom G-DRAGON created the legendary “Dongmyo Myth” during the Infinite Challenge Music Festival. Their hilarious chemistry as the Hyungyongdonjyong was a fan favorite and even won them the “Best Couple Award” at the 2013 MBC Entertainment Awards. Reuniting after 11 years, G-DRAGON joked while waiting for him, “I feel like I’m on EXchange (Transit Love).”
As soon as Jung Hyung-don arrived, he grabbed G-DRAGON’s hand, looked at his colorful nail art, and quipped, “Did you get your fingers slammed in a door?” He then casually scrolled through his phone and remarked, “Your new song POWER hasn’t even hit 30 million views yet. Looks like your popularity is declining—you’re even losing to aespa!”
Jung Hyung-don didn’t hold back, relentlessly teasing G-DRAGON. He even styled him using budget-friendly clothes and accessories from Dongmyo’s street markets, draping him in everything from mismatched outfits to a literal lightbulb. Though G-DRAGON appeared helpless, he later posted the photos on Instagram, prompting fans to laugh and comment that only Jung Hyung-don could get away with messing with him like this.
G-DRAGON also shared a fun anecdote about Queen of Tears, revealing that the drama moved him to tears. Thanks to their mutual friend Cho Sae-ho, he met Kim Soo-hyun at the gym. Kim, hoping to bond through exercise, personally demonstrated how to use a glute-strengthening machine. Watching him confidently spread his legs on the equipment left G-DRAGON stunned, drawing laughter from everyone on set.
Both Kim Soo-hyun and G-DRAGON were born in 1988. Kim admitted that he isn’t easily moved, but watching G-DRAGON’s comeback performance at the MAMA Awards gave him chills three times over. His rare participation in a variety show was his way of showing support.
Next week, the “Golden Lineup” of 1988-born stars—including Kim Soo-hyun, Jung Hae-in, Im Si-wan, Kwanghee, and Lee Soo-hyuk—will reunite with G-DRAGON for a lively friendship gathering. The group agrees to let loose, with Kim Soo-hyun enthusiastically imitating voices and singing, leading Kwanghee to exclaim, “You don’t have to go this far!” Later, the award-winning actor Hwang Jung-min makes a surprise entrance, greeting G-DRAGON with a dramatic “Big bro, G-DRAGON!”—sending the idol into a fit of laughter. The unexpected friendship between the two will soon be unveiled.
Packed with surprises, Good Day streams exclusively on iQIYI International every Sunday at 21:40.
